About Cecina

Cecina is a seaside resort set between the Tuscan countryside and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy the sunshine and bask on pebble beaches fringed by lush pine forests. There’s plenty of history and culture to discover on this stretch of the Etruscan Coast, including a fascinating archaeological museum.

Things to do in Cecina

Cecina is fringed by a long stretch of honey-coloured pebble sand. The shoreline is dotted with “lido” beach clubs where you can rent sun loungers, order food and sip cocktails. Just steps from the beach are cafes, gelaterias and trattorias serving delicious cuisine from the Livorno region. Try local specialties like “cacciucco” fish stew, salted cod and squid ink risotto.

The Archaeological Museum of Cecina occupies a handsome villa and covers centuries of local history. Inside you’ll find Paleolithic artefacts, Iron Age tools and Roman ceramics found at nearby archaeological sites.

Make a splash at Acqua Village, a Hawaiian-themed water park with more than two kilometres of slides. Some of the tallest are more than 10 metres high and feature twists, turns and steep descents. Cool off with island-inspired treats like shaved ice drizzled with colourful syrup, frozen yoghurt and fresh coconuts.

The Tuscan countryside is at your doorstep in Cecina. Day hikes are the best way to explore the vineyards, sunflower fields and olive groves. Pack picnic supplies or stop for lunch in a traditional Tuscan village like Casino di Terra or Ponteginori.

Zebras, meerkats and tropical birds are just some of the animals you can see at Parco Gallorose. A three-kilometre trail winds through the park and takes you past a variety of habitats, including a traditional Tuscan farm and the Australian outback. Species like Pomarancina sheep and Amiata donkeys are unique to Tuscany.
