Things to do in Torla

Torla’s historic centre feels like stepping into a fairy-tale. Get lost in a maze of cobbled streets lined with stone houses. The Gothic-style Church of San Salvador soars over the town and makes an appearance on most local postcards.

Torla shares a border with France, which means you’ll see lots of bistros and patisseries around town. Local tapas bars serve wholesome dishes from Huesca Province like Broto Valley beef, lamb served with “migas a la pastora” breadcrumbs and “salmorrejo” tomato soup. Pair your meal with wine from the Somontano region.

The Ara River flows past Torla and provides a backdrop for water-based activities. Gear up for a white-water rafting trip or rent a kayak and enjoy a scenic paddle along slow-moving sections. You can also get your pulse racing with adrenaline-fuelled activities like canyoning and waterfall rappelling.

Ordesa National Park protects a unique landscape of deep canyons, high plateaus and rugged limestone peaks. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and can be explored solo or on guided tours. In the low-altitude zones you can discover lush valleys, green alpine pastures and tumbling waterfalls. Monte Perdido is one of the tallest peaks in the Pyrenees and towers over the park. The hike to the summit is challenging but rewards you with panoramic views. Look out for griffon vultures nesting in the clifftops.
